Jack Hunt Forest School

The Jack Hunt Forest School project came in two phases: first, in 2022, we established the access paths and enhanced the tree cover with more appropriate ‘forest school’ plants.  Then in 2023, we set up the ‘base camp’ – an outdoor classroom featuring an all weather shelter with woodburner.  Alongside this was another indoor/outdoor fireside circle, a log store, a 6.5 metre long banqueting table, and various other features.

Kerry Cliffe is the assistant headteacher and champion of forest school learning.  Following her extensive research she found that over a period of 6 weeks, students reading levels increased on average by 10 months for each group when compared to other students woth similar CAT scores.
